Andy, Mamie, Mary and Chris win the Alan Barker Trophy

Andy Cove, Mamie Heyworth, Mary Hudson and Chris Haworth topped the results board at the end of the Alan Barker Teams Competition on Sunday June 14th. More information in the "Results" section of the website

Are you interested in learning the game of Bridge?

Our new Beginners' Courses will be starting on Wednesday,September 16th. They are specially designed by our Training Team for complete beginners, and those with just a little knowledge of the game. The Team is made up of 8 teachers, trained by the EBU, (English Bridge Union) and led by the Chief Training Officer John Duxbury. Normally, the courses are over-subscribed, so, to be sure to be on it, book your place NOW ! Contact our Training Secretary, Pat Murphy, on 01253 734489.

The entry list for the Malings Individual Trophy is on the Competition notice Board

The entry sheet for the Malings Individual Trophy Trophy to be played on Sunday July 12th is up on the Competitions Notice Board....this is a lovely Tournament to play in as you get to play with so many different people. The entry is limited to just 44 competitors, so book in early!

The July edition of Club Focus is out with plenty of interesting articles in it. Just go to our "Useful Links" section of the website, click on the web address and then click on Issue 1V (on the right hand side of the page)

The Beginners' Classes have graduated!

After 3 full terms of learning the 2 Beginners' Classes have finally finished their courses and have graduated to become full members of the Clifton Bridge Club!....well done everyone! Some of them played, and did very well, in the afternoon session on Wednesday, July 1st with Sue Gott and Lindsay Cooper winning the East/West section. This will be great practice as they contest the Rachel Hornby Trophy on Sunday, July 19th.


	TEN tables at Eddie's session! There were no less than TEN full tables at Eddie's Monday Afternoon session on June 22nd...the BEST EVER attendance for this particular session.....well done Eddie!!


	It's Strawberries and Cream at the Saturday Bridge and Supper Club As it's the Wimbledon fortnight there was Strawberries and Cream on the menu at the Bridge and Supper Club on Saturday and it will be there again on Saturday July 4th, if enough people sign up for it! At just £1 a time it's got to be worth it!. Then on July 11th it's Fish & Chips at just £3.50 a head!

1st Team

Pat Murphy will be the 1st Team Captain for next season. At the moment she is busy preparing Practice Sessions for the 3 Teams which we expect to field next season

2nd & 3rd Teams

Olive Somerville is to Captain the 2nd Team while Dave Johnston is to Captain the 3rd Team

Unfortunately the Clifton Bridge Team succumbed to the might of the League Champions of the Fylde & District League, Southport, as they played for a place in the Wainwright Trophy Final.
