The Club has classes for
Beginners
which take place on Wednesday
Evenings and Friday Mornings starting in
September each year........ there
is also opportunity to join them at a later
date, depending on your previous experience of
the game. You
need NO previous experience if you start in
September..... and you don't need
to have a partner. To book your place email
our Training Secretary Pat Murphy at
tonymurfia@tiscali.co.uk or call her on
01253 734489. The next courses will start in
September ,but you can enrol for them right
now to ensure that you have a place. There
will be an Open Day at 2pm on Sunday, August
22nd 2010 if you want to call in and learn all
about the classes and the Bridge sessions that
the Club has to offer. Clifton currently has
several EBU
trained Teachers and several more
Assistants who will be helping to deliver the
courses using the recommended "Bridge For All"
programme. The first lesson is
FREE but at the second lesson, which is also
FREE, each student will be asked to buy the EBU
"Beginning Bridge" book which will be of
enormous help in consolidating what you have
learned at the classes, and will give you all
the basics of how to become a good Bridge
player....once you have "graduated" at the end
of the 3 Terms of lessons you will be offered a
membership of the Club and the £10 Joining fee
will be waived! The lessons cost £50 for
a term. Because we have so many Teachers/Assistants
there will be several of them attending each session so
that students can have more individual
attention.
We are also keen to encourage new and
inexperienced players to play Bridge regularly
so that they can consolidate what they have
learned., so we have special sessions
deliberately aimed at new and inexperienced
players. On a Friday Afternoon we have an
"Assisted Bridge session" where you will be able
to call for help with your bidding and
play....and we will provide you with a partner
if you don't have one! On Wednesday evenings we
play "Simple Systems" Duplicate Bridge where
questions can be asked at the end of the session
about the hands played that evening.
There are also special sessions on Wednesday afternoons
and Saturday Evenings which are aimed at
Beginners and Inexperienced players where
"Simple Systems" are used and the play is more
relaxed and gentle. As you gain
confidence you will be more than welcome to join
our existing members on Monday afternoons
("Simple Systems") or any of the other evening
sessions when Competitive Duplicate Bridge is
played to Level 3. Although these are
competitive sessions, our members do appreciate
the difficulties experienced by relative
newcomers to the game and you
will find them very supportive. |
