Notes from the July 2008 Committee Meeting

*   The Team Captain Peter Plant was welcomed by the Chair as he has now agreed to be co-opted onto the Committee

*  The EBU Strategy Sub-Committee have started work on  preparing a report on the pros and cons of the new EBU strategy and will present it to the Committee and the Club members in due course

*  Coaching sessions are to be set up for the Teams starting from the end of July

*   It was noted, with sadness, that one of our members, Margaret Wilkinson had passed away in June

*  The sample of Members surveyed about the introduction of a "Big Hand" Night when lots of unusual hands will be played in the one, special Evening seemed to be largely supportive of the idea and some nights are to be tried out starting in September.  Other handicapped nights "with a fun aspect" are to be tried as well on a Saturday to boost the falling numbers and to entice the new beginners to come on that evening.  The Saturday League will, of course, continue on 2 Saturdays each month, and next year this will become a handicapped event.

*  Our 3rd Team has been accepted for the Fylde Bridge League this coming season

*  The remaining Shields and Boards are to be put up shortly

*  Congratulations to Irene Gott and Jane Stratton whose membership applications were approved

*  The Publicity for the new Beginners' sessions was approved....there will be an Open Day from 2pm to 4pm on Sunday August 31st, 2 adverts in the Lytham Express and posters displayed around the Town

*  It was agreed to put an extra cupboard for the training material under the Notice Boards
