Clifton Bridge Club Visitors Website - News The Honours Boards back up! The Honours Boards are now back up.  They have been brought up-to-date by a sign-writer and the stick-on letters have been removed.  A Committee Notice Board with their photos on is also to be put up so that newcomers can identify committee members.  Small paper holders are to go on the walls so that members can easily access new information.   You don't need a partner for Wednesday afternoons any more! You can now turn up on any Wednesday afternoon without a partner and we will find one for you!   Wednesday is a "Social Bridge" session, playing about 21-24 boards aimed at Beginners and inexperienced players so the play is nice and relaxed.....this particular session is an excellent place for newcomers to start as "experienced" pairs are not allowed in....apart from the Tournament Director and his partner that is!   Committee Appointments At the March Committee the following appointments were made:     Vice-chair and Chair of the Ethics Committee:  Andy Cove;       Project 2010 Manager and Chief Training Officer:  John Duxbury;    AISC Liaison Committee:  Tony Murphy, Andy Cove and John Duxbury;  Team Captain:  Peter Plant;    Membership Secretary:  Polly Scholes;    Keith Bates has been appointed to purchase materials and George Winstanley to look after the Vending Machine .....and..... Dagmar Fazackerley and Peter Plant have agreed to be co-opted onto the Committee   Welcome ! The Memberships Applications from 28 of our Beginners Class are now up on the Board and they should all be fully-fledged members shortly!.....and welcome back Irene Gott who is back with us again and is renewing her membership! Moira is still bubbling! Just had a phone conversation with Moira Wigglesworth who sounds so chirpy!  She has just had her cataracts done, and despite a few problems with the eye-drops she is using, she now doesn't need glasses for distance.   She says she would love to be back at the Club but is not sure about how long she can sit in one place.....I really hope we get to see her again.....apart from her lively conversation I miss those bags of refridgerated sweets!....and wasn't it nice to see Alma Hopwood back in the Bridge Room again at the Spring Social?  Polly Scholes is all bubbly again after her recent illness and starting to get back in the swing of things!
