If you are looking to play competitive
Duplicate Bridge in a warm and friendly
atmosphere in one of the best Bridge rooms in
the North West...then this is the Club for you!
We welcome new members, prospective members and
visitors to the area.
Clifton Bridge Club is an EBU Level 3
Club. Bridge is played every evening
except Sunday and also on a Monday and Wednesday afternoons.
Wednesday afternoons,
Wednesday Evenings and Friday Afternoons are
designated "No fear" events. These
sessions are also relatively relaxed about the
number of boards to be played in
recognition that less experienced players may be
daunted by the prospect of having to play too
quickly and thereby losing their enjoyment of
the session. At these events all opening bids at
the 2 level must be "strong" and conventions
showing 2-suited hands are to be avoided.
Saturday Evenings will also become a "No Fear"
session in the near future.
Please be seated and ready to play by 1.15pm for
the afternoon session and at 7.15pm for the
evening session.
We now have a Hosted Session on a Friday
Afternoon (so we can provide you with a partner)
it is also an "Assisted Bridge" session where
you can call for help with the bidding or the
playing of a hand.
We can often provide you with a partner for a
session if we know in advance....Call Secretary, Dave
Johnston, on 01772 561596.
We have one of the most comprehensive Bridge
Training programmes in the UK, offering great
individual support to students on our Beginners'
Classes, thanks to the 8 Teachers, who have been
trained by the English Bridge Union, and who
regularly turn out to assist Chief Training
Officer John Duxbury. We regularly feature Improver Classes for
the more experienced players.
Browse
through our website and see what we have to
offer...or, better still,
call in at the Club on any weekday evening
around 7, see for yourself and pick up a welcome
pack!
